Sled Push

Sled Push is a beginner-level compound in the strongman category that primarily works the quads. It also recruits the calves, chest, glutes, hamstrings and triceps. It is performed with other equipment.

How to do it

  1. 1Load your pushing sled with the desired weight.
  2. 2Take an athletic posture, leaning into the sled with your arms fully extended, grasping the handles. Push the sled as fast as possible, focusing on extending your hips and knees to strengthen your posterior chain.

Tips and common mistakes

Sets and reps

For hypertrophy: 3–4 sets × 8–12 reps with 1–2 reps in reserve (RPE 7–9) and 1–2 minutes rest. For strength: 3–5 × 4–6 with longer rest.
